We have a portuguese water dog from Bayport Waterdogs Inc. She is 5 years old and is a welcome addition to our family. She is great with children, very social, and energetic. She has a wonderful personality. She loves being with ANYBODY and is friendly to everyone she meets. This makes her quite endearing to all who meet her. She has responded very well to training and is quite obedient. She socializes well with other dogs. She is not aggressive. Because of our positive experience with Bayport Waterdogs Inc., I have no hesitation in recommending a dog from Bayport Waterdogs Inc.

We adopted Lucy, our first PWD 2 years ago. My wife has allergies so a dog was not really on our radar as much more than a passing thought. Then we discovered Pam and Bayport Water Dogs. Over the next couple of months and several informative visits with Pam, we welcomed Lucy into our family. From day one Lucy has proven to be one of our best decisions. She is very intelligent, learning everything we could teach her right away. She is a very happy, robust, smart, loving, beautiful dog with a good sense of humour. Lucy has been going everywhere with us including vacations, Home Depot, Rona, Canadian Tire, parks, trails, friends and families houses. We were so pleased that we went back to Pam last year and adopted another Bayport PWD, Diamond. 2 1/2 years ago we would not have believed that we would have one dog in our family, now we have two and could not more pleased with our choice of breed and breeder. Our 5 year old daughter Ellie calls them her sisters. Both Lucy and Diamond are quite gentle and attentive to Ellie whether its going down the slide with her, catching the frisbee, or cuddling. We would definitely recommend a Bayport PWD.

I have known Pamela Headon (Schlueter )for years both as a professional PWD breeder & personally. I am very happy with the 4 year old dog we bought from her. Molly is a very much loved member of our family. Customers are so happy with their dogs they tell others. Happy customer referals is how much of Bayport's marketing works. These dogs sell themselves with their lovely and loving personalities. Our dog is a healthy beauty, sired by Champion Raffles Boaz the Buoyant. Boaz is one of the heathiest nicest tempermented dog we have ever met. I knew Rosie(her Mother) also, having assisted with her first whelping. She was a beautiful looking friendly dog, whom everyone loved.
I love walking our dog. People often stop to ask about our dog & admire her. I enjoy telling them we had our PWD before the Obama's had theirs, and I pass on Bayport's name. When breeding registered dogs there are criteria of excellence to be met. Bayport breeding dogs have not only met but exceded the many standards required. When matching pedigrees, I know from professional contact, Bayport's standards are above those required. Dogs are imported from as far away in blood-lines as possible. Giving careful consideration to health, temperment and confirmation. I appreciate that very much and beleive that I have the healthiest best dog possible because of the expertise involved. Also, all puppies are seen at least twice by a vet(specializing in PWDs) and deemed to be healthy before moving to their new families.I recommend BayPort Portuguese Waterdogs to anyone looking for a really good PWD. Please remember that PWDs are not for everyone. They really do have a lot of energy as puppies and are extremely smart! If you are looking for a 'couch-potato' dog this might not be the breed for you!

Dearest Pam,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your expertise and, probably more importantly, the love you showed Pepsi when she delivered her pups. I am so grateful and was so touched with the way your worked with the puppies and Pepsi. I was delighted to be part of the experience too.
My emotions were all over the place for the next few days. I thought back to our first conversation and the first time I met you. We met by chance and I knew from the minute we said hello that we were meant to know each other. Your gift of friendship and support, personally and with my journey with Portuguese Water Dogs, continues to bring smiles to my heart.
I first babysat one of your gentle giants and fell in love with him. My son thought I brought a horse home and my daughter in law was adamant that her kids were not coming near me with that "thing". Well, my grandson, who was two at the time, laid his head against Levy's who had his head on my knew and said, "see dad, he lubs grammy". Levy was the largest, most majestic PWD I had the pleasure of sharing time with and would give him my home without a thought. His big paws, so soft as he flopped one in my hand for his cookie. Thinking of him brings such delightful memories.
I met several more of your dogs, until it was time for my bundle of energy, Pepsi, who came to me at 12 weeks old. You continued in and out of our lives as Pepsi was tested over and over for her to eventually have puppies of her own. I have never held a dog in my heart the way I do and always will, as I do with Pepsi. I never thought she would have the patience to have her own puppies and why we waited for 4 heats. But, she is the best. I have attached a picture (she won't like it, they don't call it labour for nothing).
When I came over a couple of days later to supplement the puppies with a bottle, a smile of pure joy suffused my heart. Then, while you were in your office, working away, I was sitting in the rocking chair with tears streaming down my face. You see, Mr. Mumfred (our pretend name for another gentle giant) was ever so softly licking each puppies head as I put them in a basket, after they were fed. He wasn't the dad of these pups. He was a gentle, loving, 85 lb. PWD doing what our dogs do, love. It was such a touching moment, Pepsi, now a gentle, caring mom and Mr M joining the peaceful moment by making sure these tiny creatures were ok once I put them down.
I never knew dogs could be like your dogs. They are comedians, full of energy, play gently (I love their huge, soft paws), do the most unique things, hug you like they really mean it and just plain adore you, because you are you. I have had so many kinds of dogs in my many years, but Pepsi will always have number 1 spot in my heart.
Thank you for your gift of teaching me so much about a dog I always dreamed of owning but could never imagine the half of who she is. And, thank you for bringing 10 more little Pepsi's into the world, to show other people what is really important in life. Love, unconditional love. Thank you for Bayport Water Dogs and answering the phone when I thought I phoned a rescue society for PWD's.

I love Bayport's dogs
My name is Pamela C. and I live in Kelowna, BC. My husband and I purchased a puppy from Pam Headon in January of this year. We named him Lincoln and he is now 4 1/2 months old. Not only is he a beautiful puppy, he also has an outstanding temperament. He is our second puppy - we bought our first Portuguese Water Dog from a breeder in Mission, BC just over a year ago. With the first puppy, we visited the breeder several times before purchasing a puppy and felt that we did all our homework. However, our puppy was so sick when we brought him home, that our vet didn't even know if he would make it. That breeder gave us a written health guarantee, and despite this, she still was very reluctant to cover the vet costs and it took months before she reimbursed us. We decided that we wouldn't get our second puppy from her but we were sceptical about buying from a breeder that we had never met. When we started looking into finding a breeder outside of BC, I spoke to more than 6 breeders in Ontario. I was most impressed with Pam because she was always quick to respond and was always open with us.. I really felt as though she had nothing to hide. She is very professional and she runs her business in a way that exceeded all of our expectations (particularly after having to deal with the previous breeder we used). We never met her and yet, I feel as though we are friends; We still chat on the phone from time to time and I feel that she genuinely cares that we were and will continue to be happy with our decision to choose her as a breeder. Lincoln is very healthy and very happy. We could tell that he was very loved before we adopted him because of how affectionate, trusting and outgoing he is. He is so sweet and loves to cuddle, loves to play and he actually had learned not to bite before we even got him. He also responded to his name when we got him (which tells us that he was being called by his name all along). He is very smart, calm and gentle which makes training a breeze.. Pam breeds puppies that have incredible temperaments, and I have no reservation in recommending her to anyone. When it comes time that we buy another portie, she will be the first person we call!
